Accessibility

Research should be understandable and usable.

This website aims to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA and to remain usable across devices, input methods and assistive technologies.

Current measures

  • Semantic headings and landmark regions.
  • Keyboard-accessible navigation and visible focus states.
  • Text alternatives for meaningful images.
  • High-contrast text and controls.
  • Layouts that adapt to small screens and text enlargement.
  • Reduced motion for visitors who request it.
  • Descriptive links and labelled navigation.

Known limitations

Some external documents and publisher pages may not meet the same accessibility standard. Future maps and charts will require equivalent text descriptions before publication.
